In other news

As I most wholeheartedly try to keep this a personal space to share about Macadam (and now his future sister), I did want to share some other developing news. Some of you may have received an email from me about the launch of my new site - Drygoods Design - offering fabric by the yard and a selection of the items I make, Bread & Salt. While a couple of retailers in Seattle carry Bread & Salt, the hope is that I'll have more time to widen its distribution as well as sell some pretty incredible fabric.

It's been a ton of work but I am excited for what the future holds. Please check it out and sign up for the mailing list if you want to stay informed and receive info on sales, new product and more. A thank you to my lovely boys and friends who've been so great with help, feedback and encouragement to finally make a go of it!

Without further ado

We realized after the co-ed baby shower our friends through us this past weekend that many people had no idea that we knew what we're having this time around. It was wonderful being surprised with Macadam and part of us wanted to do the same with this little person, however, practicality and wanting to know won out. So for those of you that thought we were just really patient and non-curious, we'll set the record straight.

I got this book for Rob as a gift and it's a perfect and fun introduction to what awaits us, or at least a good approach:).

Pint-sized news

We've tried to share the news the best we can, but in case we haven't seen or talked to you in awhile, it's true, another little Faw is on their way! After seeing this book a couple of times, I finally had to get it. We're not sure if it's the subject matter or whether Macadam looks like the little boy and I, the mom, but he l-o-v-e-s this book! We read it to him at least twice a day. If you're expecting another child or know someone who is, this might be a great gift for the big sibling.

Now that the cat's out of the bag, I am sure more posts will be baby arrival related. We're due mid-June, which will probably be here before we know it!

Merry Christmas!

For the first time in more than seven years, Rob and I are at home for Christmas (no driving!) and loving every minute as we enjoy Macadam soaking up all the love and fun the holidays have to offer. We hope you all are safe, warm and enjoying those you love!

Hiatus

After a travel induced hiatus, we hope to have some updates soon. It feels insanely good to be home. We cancelled our trip for this weekend, and while we hate to disappoint, I think a weekend at home is just what we need to get settled in before I officially return to work and being gone for most of the month. We had an amazing trip to the midwest for yet another spectacular wedding of dear friends and even got to enjoy the Lo-Fin-Max-ke clan while we were in Chicago.

Hope everyone is keeping cool, especially those further south in Oregon. With temps hovering near 108 degrees on my drive back from getting Buster, it was a gift to have air conditioning.

Up and running

This is how Macadam responded when we told him we couldn't update his friends and family about him for a couple weeks.

Thankfully, he's feeling much better now that there's a working (and awesome, I must say) computer in the house again.

Expect several postings hitting over the next few days!

Not so fast

Updates won't be coming until later this week as my computer officially crashed and using Rob's work computer really wouldn't be kosher. Thankfully, I use an online backup system so our photos and other precious files will be easily restored to my new computer. While it's awful to put money into a new computer, I am looking forward to finally going Mac!

This week Macadam has his nine month doctor's appointment. It's always fun to see how much weight he's gained (wouldn't that be nice to look forward to when you're an adult) and how tall he is from the last time. As soon as we're up and running again, I'll have pictures, Mexico and recent outing updates and more on here.

Lately

We've been busy of late and there are so many updates that it will take a few days to get caught up with the man of the hour, and of this blog, Macadam. Until then, I leave you with one of my favorite recent photos. His eyes just look unreal and are even more vivid thanks to the hat Rebecca made him.

Catching up is hard to do

Forget breaking up, wading through our 500+ photos of the 2008 holiday tour is harder. May it happen before 2009. Until then, we're wishing you all a happy and bright end to 2008 as well as a healthy and happy 2009.

Just arrived - the littlest Faw of all

As some may have received via email, we welcomed a gorgeous (yeah, I can say that, I am his mom) little boy into the world yesterday. Macadam Andrew Faw has quickly stolen both Rob and my hearts.

After an early scare when he first came out, he's been a really content baby. He's been sleeping a ton so we expect that to wear off right after we leave the hospital and go home to fend for ourselves. It was so wonderful to have all the grandparents here to meet him and his Uncle Justin. We've also had a few dear friends as visitors, and it's just so great to have them meet this little man. I hope we can introduce him in person to everyone else in the near future.

After arriving 12 days later than the estimated due date, he's got a ton of hair and long fingernails and he's also very healthy. We're hoping the cone head disappears shortly since it's too funny that our newborn fits into 6 month old hats right now:)

An update

Back from the doctor, we have a little better idea of how things are going with Baby Faw. All was deemed well, which is always nice to hear. Unless things progress over the course of today and the weekend, we'll be going in Tuesday evening for a medical induction. The doctor motivated baby Faw today with some other methods but we'll see if things take shape.

And now we wait

We are all about patience these days (yea right!) in the Fawsome household. Actually, Rob and I both know that the waiting game we're playing right now is really just a precursor for the lovely struggle our offspring will bring. Because there's no way we will get a child who's not stubborn as the two of us combined. That said, it could be several more days before baby Faw decides, or rather, admits that he or she is as ready as we are to meet.

After finally highlighting the last of my projects on my list as completed, Rob found me upstairs cutting more fabric. In disbelief he asked me what I was doing since I was allegedly all done with my list. I had now begun on my "if there's time" project list...all of which are baby-related, finally:).

With not much else to do, even Rob helped out on one of the projects. These birds will eventually be displayed as a mobile like this one (where I got the idea and the pattern in the first place).



I also finished my very own diaper clutch (a small, travel-friendly stash bag for a few diapers, wipes and balm). I have made a few for gifts but it was fun to make one for myself, although I didn't go all out with waterproof fabric.



If baby Faw still isn't around tomorrow, I plan to work on a couple of projects from this book - such cute baby and little kid projects, including more fabric booties.

And if you're on the same pins and needles that we and most of our friends and families are on, never fear, we'll be posting and emailing very soon after the baby arrives.

Whoohoo - last days!

Given my genetic disposition, it's hard for me to say it's nice to be unemployed, but man, I am excited not to have to work for the next few weeks. My contract ended at Microsoft yesterday and I have, hopefully, at least two to three more weeks before I meet my most demanding "employer" yet - baby Faw.

I am going to try and rest and take it easy as much as possible - walks, going to the pool and weekly doctor visits are on the agenda for now. With the exception of the next three weekends, Rob and I will also get some time to just plain hang out during our last days before parenthood, a pretty rare treat these days.

As for the weekly doctor visits, my appointment today told us that all systems are a go and the early, early labor process has begun, which could take up to three more weeks to move onto the next phase. I am not going to post effacement and dilation digits yet but I will say that at least one of those figures is pretty far along, so much so our doctor was excited. But again, it could easily be three more weeks before anything happens.

Given the amount of projects I have to finish in the coming weeks, both baby and gifts, you can expect some more project-related pictures soon.

Four weeks and counting

Instead of counting up in pregnancy, we are now counting down. It's somewhat odd to think that when I was four weeks pregnant, we didn't have a clue that it was even the case. Now, with just four weeks (okay, that's an approximate figure) left to go, that amount of time seems so short and all too quick. Part of me wishes there was more time but mostly, I am so happy and excited that we'll be meeting our child in just a few short weeks, if not sooner.

When I realized this morning that I was wearing the same outfit as a picture we have from my 25th week, I thought it would be good to do a photographic comparison, 12 weeks later, as I am now in my 37th week. While the change seemed gradual to me, it's rather obvious that there's been some major growth with the bump.

Really? Already?

So far, I feel like pregnancy has pretty much cruised for me. Yeah, the first trimester was rough but the second one was, well, it was fun and very comfortable overall.

It appears that the third trimester really wants to put me in my place though, and quickly. Just in the last week, I am experiencing the not-so-glamorous side effects of being pregnant. (The 90 degree weather last weekend didn't help any.) I am not going to post pictures of these but let's just have a collective moment of silence/finger crossing for a cankle-free summer. Not to mention other symptoms.

Here's to two and a half more months of seeing just what my body will do to me. I still think I am pretty fortunate, and know it could be worse. It's just pretty amazing how suddenly you can be reminded that it's time to slow down, go easy and remember that your body knows what it's doing, whether you like it or not.

Coming soon...

Will be the blog and the newest addition to our family. While I am really, really good at reading blogs, I hope I can make a decent attempt at keeping one. More will be coming soon as we approach August and the impending arrival of the littlest Faw of all. So far so good.
