First Fourth

This past weekend was one of the few we'll be spending in Seattle this summer and it was a great time. We were able to catch up with friends, celebrate the holiday and be just as busy without major plans as are with them.

Macadam enjoyed the festivities each day and while he didn't get to stay up for the fireworks, he made the most of the warm weather.

Ten months

We're getting dangerously close to making note of Macadam's first year and it really drives home that time goes by all too quickly. Ever-changing, Mac is seriously on the prowl. He has officially become mobile and likes to explore nonstop.
Along with having five teeth and more on the way, Macadam is pulling himself up to both sitting and standing positions and making a mockery of the traditional crawl as he goes commando (style of crawl, not without his undies) faster and faster. He'll walk around while you hold his hands and he remains to be way more into watching and interacting with people than he is with conventional toys and books. Make no mistake, the kid can play but if given the choice between watching the world pass by and wait around for us to read to him, he'd pick people watching for the time being.

He's also in this really sweet giggly phase. He can look at a piece of paper on the floor and start laughing but still, people are his number one subject. Blowing kisses, high fives and flirting are still in his top five for showing people he wants some attention:). He also loves it when you talk about the sounds animals make. Lovely distraction mechanism we've discovered (for now)!

First Father's Day

Even though it wasn't my day, I had a bunch of fun planning a day of surprises for Rob. Macadam and I wanted to thank him for his amazing success at being a wonderful father. He really is fantastic with Macadam. It's no surprise since he's good with everyone and it's been so fun to watch him shine as a dad.

We did a lot on Sunday and it was all fun. It started out with breakfast at one of our favorite places, followed by a stroll and then a visit to the Woodland Park Zoo (Rob and Macadam's first), lunch with dear friends, and a tour of one of the Deadliest Catch boats, which I think officially sent Rob over the moon.

Here's some highlights, including Macadam's new hobby of checking out the babes (in this case the waitress), the zoo, father and son, lunch and one salty boat with even saltier crew members.
Thank you Rob - we love you!

Happy little camper

On Friday, we hopped (not really accurate but we got in it eventually) into the car and drove to Alta Lake for a day and a night of camping with some fantastic people. The weather was so much more pleasant than last year. Well, at least for me since it wasn't 104 degrees and I wasn't eight months pregnant.

It's a beautiful place and we enjoyed every minute of it, even when Macadam got some major splinters, which are now long gone. Mr. Mac was an extremely happy camper and continues his charming ritual in the great outdoors. Our one night test run gave us hope that the remaining camping trips will go okay.

Happy Father's Day

Here's to one amazing father - Rob - and all the other dads out there. Hope you get to enjoy your families and those you love today. Macadam and I are certainly going to do our best to make Rob's first Father's Day a memorable one.

Mobile Mac

This video is from just a couple of days ago but already it seems like Macadam is light years faster than what is documented. We're really in for it now:).
