Macadam and his cousin Elle (I don't know the removal process for cousins but they're still cousins just the same) sizing each other up. He also was able to meet his Great Aunt Jeanne, cousin Kirsten and Elle's brother, Karsten. It was fun to see all the little people in one room. It's going to be so much fun to see these cousins grow up together.

One of those moments
First road trip
Macadam experienced the road well traveled by his parents this week as we took our first interstate trip to Oregon. He also celebrated three weeks on earth too. It was a big week and it's not even over yet. It was a jam-packed 2.5 days. He saw familiar faces and made some new friends too. It's not hard when you're as cute as he is right now.

Last but not least getting some quality time with Grandpa Terry and Grandma Dinah

A full social calendar
Our little man is already a little social butterfly. We took him out two nights in a row but he also welcomed some friends to the house as he met some favorite people and hung out with neighborhood pals.

Two weeks old
Fourteen days has yet to fly by and stand still at the same time before for us. That was until we had Macadam. While we're still new to this gig, I think most parents would agree that with a child, they grow before your eyes so fast but at the same time, it's hard to imagine a time when they didn't exist.
Macadam has successfully reached his birth weight again and has grown more than an inch. We're having so much fun with him, it's hard not to post dozens of pictures each day, yet we realize they aren't too varied since his days are spent doing little else than eating, sleeping and staring at us. Examples of each during his second week are below:)
We're looking forward to more visitors from afar this weekend and another play date and beer date with Clover and her parents.

A busy and fun weekend
In our true style, we did a great deal with a little boy who is still days old, maybe too much but we just can't say no to fun and hanging out. Macadam was a trooper and never showed signs of fatigue, even if Mom and Dad did.
Saturday we started out with friends and coffee and our longest walk to date. A great surprise was a visit from Uncle Justin and Andrea, which put Macadam out for his first lunch with beer (just kidding). Later on he went to his first bbq where we celebrated a friend's 30th.
On Sunday, Macadam was surrounded by ladies at Marissa's bridal shower before we headed to a wonderful evening treat, thank you Anne and Adam, - a cooking class at Le Gourmand, a local French restaurant. The food was amazing and Macadam was, as usual a doll, even though his four course meal included only one ingredient.
These were taken while he was hanging out at the shower. He was very alert, which is always a treat and I love the one where his hand is almost as big as is face.

From Russia with love
Seriously, we're either hilarious or just so sleep deprived that anything with our son is funny.
Here's what happens when Rob goes to select daily accessories for Macadam.

First bath
Macadam had his first real bath since the hospital and surprisingly, he enjoyed it, well more accurately, he didn't fuss and seemed to want to hang out for as long as possible.
Here's the one shot that won't completely embarrass him when he's older but doesn't necessarily demonstrate his contentment.

Yes, I can open my eyes
Enjoying the sunshine
On Wednesday we went to Kirkland for Maris' wedding dress fitting (well, Rob was my chauffeur for our first crosstown outing) and it was an absolutely beautiful day that we had to catch some pictures. Here's a family photo shot, me and then one with our friend Shannon.
It was a big day for a seven-day old boy - his umbilical cord fell off, he gained six ounces (thank goodness) overnight and his parents and he had their first dinner out, all went well too. It helps when you have a mellow baby.

One week old
Today marks Macadam's first week in the world, and what a week it's been. After a few rough days due to feeding challenges, our little guy has made a big comeback and is truly a content baby. We're having too much fun with him and probably should spend more time getting rest than making videos like the one below (please excuse the view, I guess you can't rotate videos).
Here are some other photos from the last day or two (as always, more can be seen via the link to Flickr):
Enjoying the beautiful morning sunshine today on a walk
Resisting dad's attempts to wake him for lunch

Buster's life post-baby
A lot of people have asked how Buster is handling the transition with a new baby in the house. Overall, he's doing great and has really not acted out in any way. However, last night we discovered Buster had a flea outbreak. We're not sure where it came from but we're thinking doggie daycare (he had a day trip while we were at the hospital). It's the last thing you want to think about with a newborn in the house and we're hoping the infestation is minimal. Rob was a trooper to get him bathed and combed.
Here's Buster post-bath and with his new toy (to offset the fact that he's got competition now):
