More Halloween fun

Here are some still shots of our little man's getup.

In addition to it being Halloween, Macadam marked his eighth week this week and his two-month check up was both good (we got an update on how well he's doing health wise) and awful - watching him get vaccinated was one of my least favorite things ever. He handled it better than we did and seems to be doing fine post-shots.

Happy Halloween

Macadam "Zoolander" Faw

Macadam tried out several of his top modeling poses in his new winter fashions (his parents finally got him some warm clothes for the cool days).

At first, he was hesitant but then he warmed up to the idea

He then tried pensive and friendly

Our little gnome

One of my favorite photos of Rob when he was little is a picture of him and his brother in matching jackets with pointy hoods where they look like little gnomes standing in the fall leaves. I couldn't help but laugh when I caught Macadam looking much the same.

Le happy montage

A little montage of Macadam's cute smiles dedicated to his dad who's on his first week-long trip for work. Of course, everyone else can enjoy these too, I know I do.

A new friend

Earlier in the weekend, Macadam showed his first real interest in a toy and also being able to hold on to something, making the connection between his hands and brain, at least for a few seconds. Two days later (tonight), he also figured out that this giraffe named Sophie can conveniently fit into his mouth (don't worry people, it's specifically made and safe for babies to chew).

Here is some of his discovery caught on film the other day. I suggest you mute it so you don't have to hear my ridiculous baby talk voice:).

Swing vote

It appears that Macadam may be counteracting any political influence here and simply encouraging all of us who can to vote. How? Well, it's hard to sell your point when you look like one candidate (see range of arm motion, comb over, and lack of neck) while wearing the support of another (thanks Aunt Jen and Uncle John), both in apparel and his cool, calm half-smile.

The evolution of an angry bear

Every night we go through a bedtime routine with Macadam. We instituted it very early on more so for us than Macadam but of course, with the end goal that he will eventually know it's time for real sleep once he's first had a bath, eaten and been read to each night.

Sometimes, we don't always luck out that we get him out of the bath and onto feeding as quickly as we'd all like. Case in point is below, which all happened within a matter of ten to twenty seconds.

Six weeks and smiling

Finally, it's not all just related to gas (the below is post death-defying/mom charmer grin)

And figuring out that he has a tongue

Hands-free baby

Grandpa Terry's visit today proved so peaceful for Macadam he didn't even require a steady hand.

Until it was story time...

Whoa, what a weekend

It's been busy over here at chez Faw. Last week and this past weekend were no exception, with two events capping it off. After what could easily be one of the best weddings and collection of wedding festivities, we headed down to Corvallis for a lightning fast trip as today was Rob's official first day with Mizuno.

We were so excited to be a part of Marissa and Ali's big day, which was a beautiful event to celebrate their almost 10 year journey together. Macadam rocked his tuxedo onesie and hung out throughout the night. On Sunday, we left early to make our way down to C-town for our favorite one year-old's big birthday, Mr. Cole. It was so much fun to see him and the other little ones enjoy the party. Plus, we were able to unwind with the Badgers, which is continually a treat. It's amazing to see how much Cole has grown and changed in one year. He's more than adorable and kept us laughing the whole time. It also puts growth in perspective since it's really hard to imagine Macadam a year from now.

We're hoping that the next five weeks of Macadam's life are a little less busy. We've enjoyed all the fun but we're definitely ready for some downtime and settling into a routine. Okay, well at least for a couple of days:).

Number five is alive

Macadam celebrated his fifth week with some tummy time. We can't say he is in love with it yet, but each time lasts longer than before. He's also growing by the minute it seems, which is showing up in his chins:)

Enjoying the new view

And so was Buster

This is Venice

When Grandpa Terry visited earlier this week Macadam had him read "This is Venice" which is one of his favorites from M. Sasek. Okay, maybe it's one of ours but he listens in rapt attention. This was a nice way to end a fun evening of dinner on the water, watching the presidential debate and enjoying time with Grandpa.

Walter's

As a lot of our friends will attest, we spend a great deal of time at "our" coffee shop, Walter's. In the last year plus, we've come to know some wonderfully delightful and funny people there. It embodies plenty of great things about what you seek in a neighborhood and community and when we move, we'll miss the people and the coffee dearly.

As evidence of how great they are, our beloved barista Kim and other friends threw us a baby shower this past weekend. It was a very fun night and we're still overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of everyone.

One month old and full of woe

Okay, well not really too full of woe but today I did capture some moments of angst from our little man, which is pretty rare for mellow Macadam. Truth be told, he's thriving and continues to amaze us.

Here's a look at him from his day of being one month old. *It's a video for now since for some reason Blogger is not letting me upload any photos at the moment.

Father and son

One of my favorites from this week of Rob and Macadam...Rob administering one of his best soothing techniques and the results are obvious from the look on Mr. Mac's face.

Loooking more like a baby every day

This week Macadam adopted a pacifier, relieving his mom of her pacifying duties a little, and took on bibs galore since he seems to have a real knack for spitting up. For some reason when I looked at him that morning he seemed much more a cliche of a baby with both bib and pacifier in full force and even more adorable and peaceful.
