Unsupervised wardrobe consultations

This is what I was presented with the other day when Rob brought Macadam back from changing his diaper.

Giving thanks

We're pretty thankful around here. We have a beautiful little baby boy, fantastic friends, wonderful family and a roof over our heads.

We celebrated Thanksgiving in a slowed down version than those in the past. We still cooked a full-on meal but our other activities took a back seat now that we have thrown a small person into the mix. Macadam's first Thanksgiving though, was a good one.

Rob brined the turkey and I started early on pie crust, and my first attempt at fig and anise bread. We did some other dishes, welcomed some friends for dessert and by the end of the night were in tryptophan heaven.

Here's a mix of culinary and baby photos from the day.

Close ups

Some random but fun shots of Mr. Mac recently.

A fun weekend of friends

This past weekend we had the good fortune of spending time with dear friends and showing Macadam about town. Friday night we went out for oh so good noodles with the lovely Marissa and Ali, followed by tea and beer.

Next up was Saturday with morning coffee, a walk to the locks and welcoming Steve and Kate for the weekend. We had so much fun hanging out at home and introducing them to Macadam. Our coffee shop was having its Turkey party - the "gallery" showing of our hand turkeys - and the Nasses came along for the fun.

Giraffe hunting

Macadam continues his quest to eat his toy...

Note: it's almost better to click through the slideshow rather than wait for the timer, it shows how aggressive he was:).

Double fisting it

Thankfully it will be awhile before Macadam will be holding two drinks but it was fun to catch him successfully holding two toys at the same time.

After going north, we go south

Right after we returned from our weekend up north, both Rob and I left again. Rob to Atlanta and me down to Oregon for my first solo road trip with my two mini co-pilots, Macadam and Buster. It was a fun trip where Macadam got to see some new faces and catch up with a few of the grandparents. He also had a few firsts: picking apples, watching the Blazers and shopping in Portland (okay, maybe that was me having fun with no sales tax). While the driving was tiring, the trip was very relaxing. Nothing like crisp fall days in a pretty city and on a wonderful farm.

After two trips so close together, Rob and I are happy to be home and enjoy the next week, including our last Thanksgiving in Seattle, before Rob heads back to Atlanta.

Enjoying the view of Grandpa Fox from Grandma's lap as well as being influenced on who to root for during Oregon civil war games.

Vancouver, BC: part two - yum fun

After Friday evening, our weekend in Vancouver was just too much fun. We explored Granville Island and its spectacular public market (which puts Pike Market here to shame), saw good friends, enjoyed the favorable exchange rate, walks and had some delicious food and coffee, both at the market and at two local restaurant favorites.

Vancouver, BC: part one - you're okay, eh

Macadam experienced his first international trip over the weekend in celebration of Rob's birthday. We had a wonderful weekend that started off with a bang, literally. We arrived on Friday afternoon and were excited to start exploring downtown near our hotel. Instead, we experienced a hard lesson of parenting. Long story short, a series of unfortunate events had us take Macadam to the hospital as a preventive measure. He is "more than okay, eh" as they said at the hospital. To boot, we now know that Macadam is a nurse charmer.

Afterwards, we restarted the weekend with the confidence that our little guy was going to be just fine. We think that we were definitely more impacted by what happened than he was. The rest of the weekend was so much fun! I will update with more of our happenings but for now, I leave you with some great photos of our little #1 patient. Really, he even got a sticker.

No reason but cuteness

There's no main event or reason for posting these pictures from the other day except they're really cute.
